Vienna Awards for Fashion and Lifestyle 2011 – what a Show!
What an event…so many beautiful people, so many brilliant designers, so many witty bloggers and so many outfits to love and to hate. The Vienna Award for Fashion and Lifestyle 2011 (which is a promoted event by beautiful lady Marjan Firouz) has been a great, exciting and fashionable event. As I dressed up in my perfect Gala outfit and put on the last finish of my makeup, I always reminded myself of not forgeting either the invitation nor my hankerchiefs for I have been quite sick but thank God that was something no one noticed.
As I entered the location – MQ Halle E (Museumsquartier) – it was about time to put on my perfect smile and to greet those I knew giving out compliments, receiving some and entering the whole scene while being brought to my table, which was right at the runway having the perfect look on the hostess Sonja Kraus and on the collection presentations by Doychinoff, Goldwell (Hairtrends 2011) and Tiberius (wonderful, handsome looking Marcos Valenzuela).
After looking into various cameras being photgraphed and asked for some interviews, I shortly visited the blogger table to greet my beautiful blogger colleagues who looked stunningley beautiful all dressed up in love for fashion. Then it was time to find myself at my table talking to nominated stylist Thomas Reinberger, who was seated (with me) right at the Making Of table. Martina Cerny, who is one of the CEO’s of Making Of Agency, was looking absolutely gorgeous in a white Tiberius jumpsuit and a marvellous hat. Right after the steak has been served it was about time to start the show.
The first fashion show was the latest collection of nominated label Doychinoff by Maria Doychinova, which was a beautiful collection fluent in fabrics and dark in colours as black and grey with white contrasts. The cuts have been very sensitive and special, looking quite complicated and detailed.
Right after the first show the first four awards have been presented:

The third and last show has been shown by Tiberius, who isn’t just a wonderful kind of guy, but also a great designer, that I can look up to. The collection has been full of romantic cuts in dresses, coats, trousers and shirts, beautiful printings and great dark colours.
Fashion- and Lifestyle-Journalist (Laudatory: Dr. Andreas Mailath-Pokorny, Council for culture and science)
Austrian Fashion.net
Hans Stephan Grasser
Stephan Hilpold

Special Award: Style Icon (Laudatory: Gery Keszler, Organiser of the Life Ball)

All in all the event has been a great opportunity for networking and communicating, for being fashionable and for looking at beautifully stunning people as well as horribly patterned dresses. But what would a fashion party be without some fashion disasters.
The best things in life are fashion, fashion and oh yes… fashion!

DIOR – the going of Natalie Portman and the arrival of Riccardo Tisci
Spotted: R and J in a shop in 22nd district – will there be a reunion of two lost friends or will the battle rise one last time?! R still fitting his outfit for the Vienna Awards, which will take place on Monday 14th – does a little colour make sense in times like these?! What do you do when you are about to meet some enemies at an event like that?! Smile (knowing you are so much better and stronger and wiser and above all damn hot gorgeous!) and just walking straight ahead with a rocking attitude! Adi Weiss again publishing a statement that will have to put him down – and if nothing is going to do something about it then I sure will – no one insults Alexander McQueen after all he has given to the fashion industry! Got it you-who-has-absolutely-no-clue-about-fashion-AT-ALL?!!!
The biggest and coolest news of the day is for sure monsieur John Galliano’s replacement at Dior’s Maison de la Mode fantastique – Riccardo Tisci. Former Creative Director of Givenchy will join the world of Haute Couture in the name of beloved Christian Dior. I am so looking forward to the next collection. Unfortunately beautiful Academy Award Winner Natalie Portman immediately canceled the contract with Dior and their Miss Dior Cherrie Campaign after the ousting of Mr. JG – but I can totally understand that and have to say that it is good to know that some people out there still have some moral concepts.
Natalie Portman’s statement after she heard the Galliano News:
“I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments that surfaced today. In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way. I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful.”
For now, have a beautiful Sunday and enjoy the sun at least a little bit.

P.S. Japan – God save you all. In thoughts we are with you…in minds we can feel you…in hearts we will always be there for you.
a Minute to Japan…
In order of Japan’s momentary situation I will not write about fashion or love or anything that hurts me at the moment because I do think that the people of Japan are more hurt than I could ever be. As a cause of mother nature’s power men, women and children did not only lose their homes and shelters, they have also lost themselves in the struggle of fighting to survive and I do think it is on us now to give them back faith, belief and strength. It is on us to show them that they are not alone and that we definitely do care for them.
Therefore, I will shut every sound for one minute now to think of all the victims and I want to ask (or more to beg you) to please help Japan by donating what you can give in order to make their lives a little bit less miserable and a little bit more full of love and awareness, that we are out there thinking of them and reaching out or helping hands.
God save you all. In thoughts we are with you…in minds we can feel you…in hearts we will always be there for you.

Fashion is…
Fashion is not ‘just’ defined by what people are wearing on the street or by models walking down the magic runways around the globe wearing the newest Couture of Christian Dior, Lanvin, Oscar de la Renta and Co or by what the lens of a photographer focuses on while doing a shooting that will be featured in the next issue of your favorite fashion magazine… it is an instant language of understanding the variety of cultural aspects, traditional influences and sources of inspiration designers are connected with while bringing a new creating from mind to life.
Fashion is, beyond its mistaken connotation to shallowness and superficiality, a communicational process using non-verbal media to transport certain messages, thoughts, moods, opinions and inner motivations. It is one of the most complex and most misinterpreted languages existing as we often face ourselves looking at a certain collection and not realizing, which kind of message or feeling the designer wants to transport to our brains, to our minds and to our fashion understanding. At these certain points fashion is the only language that does not have any dictionary to use in order to prevent ourselves from misinterpreting, misspelling, misapprehending, misconceiving, misconstruing and simply misunderstanding.
Fashion is about emotions… about having a feeling for the Zeitgeist, for contemporary happenings that influence it in its special, lasting way. It is about feeling anything from anger to love to happiness (as simple these emotions might sounds as hard they are to express properly) to heartbreaking sadness and being able to apply it on clothing transporting these peculiar feelings to the audience, letting it come close to the frontier where superficiality meets scratching the human surface to dig deeper into its core and soul to understand the deeper meaning of a creation, because these creations, might they be an expensive, richely embellished evening Couture gown or a simple sleeveless A-Line cotton dress with a ribbon to bring it closer to the human body, to play with its forms, they always come from a designers heart, the part where every collection finds its start and its ending.
Fashion is neither shallow nor easy, neither superficial nor one dimensional – Fashion is the best that has ever happened to us! It is great, beautiful, bold, immaculate, infinite, irrational, elegant, pure, funny, sassy, sexy, sporty… it is everything at any time you want it to. Love it and surround yourself with it. Every single minute of this life. Fashion is life. It breathes life into anyone of us and is able to make us feel beautiful, self-confident and strong. Be that! Show it.
XOXO
